Uncovered
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026
SUMMARY
Uncovered has no user accounts and does not ask for personal details. Your puzzle progress, streak and settings are stored on your device.
We collect a limited amount of anonymous diagnostic and usage information so we can fix crashes and understand how the game is played. We do not use an advertising identifier, we do not track you across other apps or websites, we show no advertising, and we do not sell your information.
You can switch off all diagnostic and usage collection at any time in the app, under Settings, Privacy, "Share diagnostics & usage".
This summary is for convenience only. The sections below govern.
1. WHO WE ARE
Uncovered (the "App") is published by NorthLoop AI LLC ("we", "us", "our"), which is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
Contact: info@northloopai.com
This policy applies to the Uncovered iOS application and its home screen widget. It does not apply to any third-party website or service you may reach from the App.
2. NO ACCOUNT IS REQUIRED
The App does not offer user accounts. We do not ask for and do not collect your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, date of birth, contacts, photographs, location, or access to your camera or microphone.
3. INFORMATION STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE
The following is held locally on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is deleted when you delete the App:
- Which puzzles you have played and whether you solved them
- Progress within a puzzle you have not yet finished
- Your streak, statistics and achievement history
- Your app preferences, such as theme, text size and reminder time
A limited subset of this information is made available to the Uncovered widget through a private storage area on your device so that the widget can display it. It does not leave your device.
4. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Where you have not switched off diagnostics and usage collection, we and our service providers collect the following categories of information:
Diagnostic information. Crash reports and related technical data, including device model, operating system version, and technical details about the state of the App when a problem occurred. Purpose: to identify and correct faults. Provider: Google (Firebase Crashlytics).
Performance information. Technical measurements of how the App performs, such as start-up time. Purpose: to maintain and improve performance. Provider: Google (Firebase Performance Monitoring).
Usage information. Anonymous, aggregated-level information about how the App is used, including which puzzles are started and completed, general measures of difficulty and progress, which screens are viewed, and whether the subscription screen was displayed and a purchase followed. Purpose: to understand how the App is used and to improve puzzle selection and design. Provider: Google (Firebase Analytics).
Device identifiers. A pseudonymous application instance identifier generated by our analytics provider, together with an identifier assigned by your device to apps from the same developer. Purpose: to distinguish devices for the purposes described above. These identifiers are not linked to your identity and are not used for advertising.
Purchase information. If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to determine whether a subscription is active; RevenueCat receives your App Store purchase receipt and an anonymous identifier assigned to your device.
Game Center. If you have signed in to Game Center on your device, the App can submit scores and achievements to Apple. This is operated by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, and we do not receive your Game Center account details. If you are not signed in, the feature is inactive.
5. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not collect the words you enter as guesses, puzzle answers, or the text of puzzles. We do not collect an advertising identifier; the App does not include Apple's advertising framework, which is why you are not shown an app tracking permission request. We do not collect precise or approximate location.
6. NO ADVERTISING, NO TRACKING, NO SALE OF INFORMATION
We do not display advertising and we do not work with advertising networks. We do not track you across applications or websites operated by other companies. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in applicable United States privacy laws. We do not engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
7. YOUR CHOICES
You may switch off diagnostic and usage collection at any time in the App, under Settings, Privacy, "Share diagnostics & usage". Doing so disables the collection described in Section 4 and clears information that is held on your device pending transmission.
Deleting the App removes the information described in Section 3.
Your device also provides system-level privacy controls, including controls over what information your device shares with Apple and with app developers.
8. NOTIFICATIONS
Reminders are optional and are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push notification service and cannot send messages to your device. You may grant or revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings.
9. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on:
- Your consent, for the diagnostic and usage collection described in Section 4, which you may withdraw at any time using the in-app control
- Performance of a contract, for processing necessary to make a purchased subscription available to you
- Our legitimate interests in maintaining the security, integrity and proper functioning of the App, where those interests are not overridden by your rights
10. RETENTION
We retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Diagnostic and usage information is retained in accordance with our providers' standard retention settings, which are subject to change and which we periodically review. Records relating to purchases are retained for as long as necessary to support the subscription and to comply with our tax, accounting and legal obligations.
11. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Our service providers process information on servers located in the United States and other countries. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, that transfer is made under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
12. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
Because the App has no accounts, we do not hold information that identifies you by name and we are generally unable to associate the information described in Section 4 with a particular individual. Where we cannot identify you from the information we hold, applicable law may not require us to act on a request, and we may ask you for information that would allow us to identify the relevant records. The most effective way to exercise your rights is to switch off diagnostic and usage collection and to delete the App.
To make a request, contact info@northloopai.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
13. CHILDREN
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact info@northloopai.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. SERVICE PROVIDERS
We use the following providers, each of which processes information on our behalf or, where applicable, as an independent controller:
- Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring) firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- RevenueCat (subscription status) revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple (App Store purchases and Game Center) apple.com/legal/privacy
Puzzle text is included within the App and is drawn from Wikipedia. The App does not contact Wikipedia during play. If you choose to open a link to a source article, your browser connects to that third-party website and the operator's own privacy policy applies.
15. SECURITY
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the limited nature of the information we handle, and information transmitted by the App is sent over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
